MOLASSES COOKIES

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. vinegar
1 Tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. hot water
6 c. flour

Stir shortening, sugar, molasses, vinegar, ginger,
cinnamon and salt in a saucepan and heat to a boiling state.
Remove from stove, cool and add eggs and soda, which has been
dissolved in the hot water. Add flour. Turn out on floured
board and roll very thin. Bake on greased baking sheet in a
moderate oven about 15 minutes. Makes a dozen crisp cookies.
