BAKING POWDER BISCUITS

2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
2/3 to 3/4 c. milk

Cut shortening into flour, salt, baking powder; sift
together until it forms coarse crumbs. Make a hole in middle
and pour in milk all at once. Stir quickly with fork, only
until dough follows fork around bowl. Dough should be soft.
Put on lightly floured board and pat dough out to 1/2 inch
thick. Cut into biscuits with cutter or glass dipped in flour.
Bake on ungreased pan at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
