SPICY APPLESAUCE CUPCAKES

2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins

Combine dry ingredients (except nuts and raisins).
Cream shortening, sugar and egg yolks. Add applesauce alter-
nately with flour mixture. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, nuts
and raisins. Combine well. Place in well greased muffin tins
or paper liners, 2/3 full. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
May be frosted, if desired.
