BAKED APPLE DUMPLINGS Dough: 2 c. flour 5 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 Tbsp. Crisco 3/4 c. milk Syrup: 1 c. sugar 2 c. water Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in Crisco with a pastry blender until coarse crumbs form. Add milk to make a soft dough. Remove cores of 4 apples and peel. Use enough dough to wrap around entire apple and pinch dough together at top. Bring syrup ingredients to a boil in saucepan. Pour over dumplings in greased baking sheet. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 20 to 30 minutes.
