SOFT PRETZELS

2 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
4 to 5 c. flour
1 egg, beaten
kosher salt (if available)

Dissolve yeast in water; add salt and sugar. Blend in 4
cups flour; add more flour if too sticky. Roll into snakes and
shape. Brush with egg mixture (with pastry brush). Sprinkle
with salt. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees for approxi-
mately 15 minutes.
For fun, shape into letters, shapes, etc. Can be
preserved by shellacking.
