TACO SALAD head of romaine lettuce 3 medium tomatoes 1/2 bag tortilla chips 1 chopped onion (optional) 6 sliced mushrooms (optional) black olives (optional) 1 avocado 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese hot pepper sauce (optional) picante sauce ketchup Tear up lettuce into bite-size pieces, put in large bowl. Add chopped tomatoes, onion, mushrooms and cheese. Peel and cut avocado and mix well into salad. Mix together 1 jar picante sauce and 1 1/2 cups ketchup. Add hot sauce a drop at a time if desired. Pour over salad and mix together again. Add tortilla chips around top of salad and olives. Tip: The salad can be made ahead but don't add avocado or sauce until ready to serve.
