BARBEQUE SAUCE

1 c. catsup or chili sauce
3 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
3/4 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar or lemon juice
2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. finely chopped celery

Combine all and cook over medium heat to simmering
stage, stirring often. Lower heat, cover and simmer gently 10
to 15 minutes. Yields 2 1/2 cups.
If you don't cook, put 1/4 cup water. I usually use
vinegar and omit the celery. Also add about 1/8 teaspoon of
Tabasco sauce.
