10 BEAN SOUP One pound of each (dry beans): large limas small limas lentils and split peas black-eyed beans navy beans Great Northern beans pearl barley red kidney beans pinto beans Mix all in a large container, take out 2 cups for 1 batch of soup. Place rest in plastic bag and save for more soup. Place 2 cups in large kettle and cover with water. Add 2 teaspoons salt. Soak overnight. Drain; add 2 quarts water or chicken broth. Add ham. Bring to boil. Add 1 large onion, 1 small can stewed tomatoes and 2 cloves garlic. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
