8 slices bacon
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. water
6 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. fresh ground pepper
1 hard-cooked egg, sliced

Fill a large salad bowl with torn, washed and dried leaf
lettuce. Dice the bacon and fry until crisp. Remove from pan
and reserve. Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper to the
bacon grease. Heat to boiling. Scatter the bacon and egg over
the lettuce. Pour the hot dressing over lettuce and toss.
Serve at once.
