MANDARIN ORANGE ALMOND SALAD

1/2 head iceberg lettuce
1/2 head romaine lettuce
1/4 c. slivered almonds
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. minced parsley
2 green onions, including tops
1 can mandarin oranges,
drained

Dressing:
4 Tbsp. sugar
4 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 c. salad oil
1 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
dash of Tabasco sauce

Caramelize almonds by placing in the 2 tablespoons sugar
over low heat and stir constantly until brown. Remove from
heat and break apart (very brittle). Toss all ingredients
together. Add the dressing and almonds at last minute. Serves
6 to 8.
