SPAGHETTI SAUCE

1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
1 large (29 oz.) can tomato
sauce
1 large (29 oz.) can stewed or
whole tomatoes
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
2 Tbsp. oil (better if olive
oil)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 Tbsp. oregano
2 bay leaves
additional spices as desired
(onion, salt, garlic salt,
etc.)
1 to 2 c. water

Heat oil in Dutch oven; brown chopped onion and garlic.
Add ground beef and brown. Drain grease (most of it). On
medium to medium-low, add all other ingredients. (Add spices
last). Add water (1 cup to start). Stir and simmer about 15
minutes; if thick add more water (another cup). Simmer on low,
stirring occasionally for 1 to 2 hours.
Makes great lasagna, manicotti or large shell sauce,
too.
