WILTED LETTUCE 1 head lettuce 1 small onion, diced 6 slices bacon, diced 1/4 c. white vinegar 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. water Break lettuce into small pieces. Place in bowl with onion. Fry bacon until crisp. Drain. Reserve 1/4 cup bacon grease. Add bacon to lettuce mixture. Combine reserved bacon grease, vinegar, sugar, salt and water in frying pan. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Pour over lettuce mixture; toss well. Yield: 6 servings.
