SMOKY SWEET POTATO SOUP

4 cloves garlic, minced
3 onions, chopped
1 large leek, minced
2/3 c. bacon with fat
6 sweet potatoes, mashed
7 1/2 c. chicken stock
2/3 tsp. dried thyme
3 pinches nutmeg
6 pickled jalapenos (optional)
1 1/2 c. cream
1 1/2 c. sour cream
salt to taste

In pot, saute bacon. Add onion, leek, garlic and cook
covered over low heat until soft. Add mashed sweet potatoes,
chicken stock, thyme and nutmeg to pot. Bring to boil, par-
tially cover and simmer 15 minutes, cool slightly. Trim and
mince jalapenos. Add to pot cream. Serve with sour cream
garnish and sprinkle of jalapenos.
