green split peas
yellow split peas
black-eyed beans
pinto beans
red beans
black beans
white lima beans
Great Northern beans
navy beans
garbanzo beans
barley
lentils
soybeans
smoked ham hocks or ham bone
or diced ham
2 qt. water

Boil together gently for about 2 hours 2 cups of bean
mixture (using equal parts of each), smoked ham hocks, ham bone
or diced ham and 2 quarts of water. Add 1 pound can tomatoes
(diced), 1 large onion (chopped), 1 large green pepper
(chopped), 1 cup celery (chopped), 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1
tablespoon sugar, and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer another 2 hours.
