APPLE CABBAGE SLAW 4 c. shredded green cabbage 1/2 c. mayonnaise 4 1/2 tsp. sugar 4 1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice 1 Tbsp. milk 1 tsp. celery seed 3/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 2 apples, cored and chopped Sprinkle apples with lemon juice to prevent darkening. To prepare cabbage, remove tough outer leaves and discard. Cut into quarters, cut out core and cut into thin shreds with a knife or shred on a coarse grater. In large bowl blend mayon- naise with sugar, lemon juice, milk, celery seed, salt and pepper. Add cabbage and mix well. Chill several hours. Add apple just before serving. Serves 8.
