GERMAN POTATO SALAD 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. vinegar diced onions (according to taste) 6 to 8 slices bacon 2 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 c. water 4 Tbsp. cream 6 medium potatoes Fry bacon. Remove from fat and drain. Add vinegar and sugar to bacon fat. Mix cornstarch and water and add to vinegar mixture. Cook mixture until thick. Add cream and onions. Boil six medium potatoes in their jackets. Peel and slice thinly. Carefully stir into hot mixture the potatoes and diced bacon. Remove from heat. Cover. Let stand until ready to serve.
