CREAM OF BROCCOLI SOUP 1 1/2 qt. (6 c.) water 10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli 3/4 c. finely chopped onion 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. monosodium glutamate 1 tsp. white pepper 1 tsp. garlic powder 8 oz. (2 c.) shredded American cheese 1 c. milk 1 c. cream 1/4 c. butter 1/3 c. flour 1/2 c. water In a 3-quart saucepan, bring 1 1/2-quarts water to a boil; add broccoli and onion and boil for 12 minutes. Add seasonings and shredded cheese. Stir until cheese melts. Add milk, cream and butter; stir and heat to boiling. Combine flour and water and add slowly to hot mixture stirring rapidly. Cook and stir until soup is the consistency of heavy cream. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
