GERMAN SLAW

1 medium cabbage, shredded
1 c. vinegar
1/3 c. cooking oil
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. celery seed
1 onion, shredded
pepper to taste

Sprinkle sugar over cabbage and let stand a few minutes.
Heat vinegar, oil, salt, celery seed, onion and pepper; bring
to a boil. Pour boiling hot solution over cabbage. Let stand
overnight and it will be better. Will keep at least 10 days.
