ITALIAN SPAGHETTI SAUCE

1/4 c. salad oil or olive oil
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 (2 lb. 3 oz.) can Italian
tomatoes
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. basil
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. parsley
1/2 c. water

In 3-quart saucepan heat oil over medium heat for 3
minutes. Add onion and garlic. Saute for 5 minutes. Add
tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, pepper, basil, sugar,
parsley and water. Mix well. Bring to boil over medium high
heat, stirring. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 1 1/2
hours. Stir occasionally. Serve immediately or freeze. Makes
6 to 8 servings.
