GERMAN CUCUMBER SALAD 4 medium cucumbers 1 c. vinegar 1/2 c. water 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 4 1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper 1/2 c. chopped dill or 1 tsp. dried dill Slice unpeeled cucumbers very thin. Place in a deep bowl. Mix vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper thoroughly. Pour over cucumbers and sprinkle with dill. Place a plate directly on top of cucumbers and put a weight on top. Store in refrigerator for a day before serving. Pour off excess liquid and serve. Serves 8.
