PICNIC TIME LAYERED SALAD
1 head lettuce
1 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. thinly sliced green
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1 1/4 c. mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. vinegar
Layer vegetables in order: lettuce, celery, green
onion, water chestnuts, peas and green pepper. Combine mayon-
naise and sugar; thin with vinegar. Spread over top, complete-
ly covering vegetables. Refrigerate overnight.
Before serving, sprinkle top with 2 hard-boiled eggs,
chopped, and 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese.
Optional: Sprinkle with Bac*Os or crumbled cooked bacon
