BARBARA HALLOT'S LENTIL BEAN SOUP

1 pkg. lentils, washed and
drained
4 c. water
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped carrots
1/2 tsp. oregano
2 slices chopped bacon
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
2 Tbsp. wine vinegar

Put all ingredients except tomatoes and vinegar in pot.
Bring to boil. Cook 1 1/2 hours on simmer. Add tomatoes and
wine vinegar. Cook 1/2 hour more.
