HERB-TOMATO-VEGETABLE SOUP

1/2 c. onion
2 Tbsp. butter
4 c. water
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes or
2 1/2 lb. fresh (4 c.)
2 medium carrots sliced,
(1 c.)
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 Tbsp. chicken bouillon
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. dried savory
1/8 tsp. ground mace
1/8 tsp. pepper

Saute onion in butter. Stir in rest; bring to boil.
Simmer 40 minutes. A good soup for a diet; very few calories!
