LAYERED SALAD 1/2 head lettuce 2 carrots, grated 1 c. peas, frozen, uncooked 1 large onion, sliced thin 1 c. cheese, grated 6 strips bacon, fried and crumbled 1 c. mayonnaise 2 Tbsp. sugar Use large clear salad bowl so layers show. Tear lettuce in pieces and layer in bottom of bowl. Layer remaining ingre- dients in order: carrots, peas, onion, cheese and bacon. Combine sugar and mayonnaise and spread over top of salad. Cover salad with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight. Toss just before serving. Serves 6 to 8.
