MAMA MARCHI'S MARINARA SAUCE 1 lb. lean hamburger (if desired) 1 (8 oz.) can peeled tomatoes, cut up 1 to 1 1/2 lb. can tomato sauce 1 medium onion, diced 2 tsp. Italian seasonings 2 tsp. garlic powder 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 lb. mushrooms (fresh), thinly sliced 1/2 tsp. thyme 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. chili powder (more, if desired) 1/2 tsp. sugar (takes acid taste out) 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. mustard powder Brown hamburger. Drain off excess fat. Add hamburger and all other ingredients into large saucepan. Let simmer for at least 2 hours. Old family recipe for a zesty sauce excellent over pasta. Omit the beef and use as sauce for chicken.
