BARB'S BEEF 1 to 2 lb. stewing beef 5 medium potatoes 4 large yellow onions 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms salt and pepper to taste 1/4 c. oil 1/4 c. water Add 1/4 cup oil to cast iron skillet. Heat at medium temperature; add beef and brown. Salt and pepper to taste. Add by layers: peeled quartered potatoes, onions (peeled and quartered) and mushrooms. DO NOT STIR. Add 1/4 cup water and let simmer 1/2 hour in covered pan. Serves 4 to 6 people.
