NATCHITOCHES MEAT PIES

Dough:

2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening, melted
2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
milk (a little over 1/2 c.)

Sift flour and baking powder. Add shortening, then eggs
and milk to make stiff dough. Roll very thin. Use saucer to
cut circles. Fill 1/2 full with meat. Fold dough over, dampen
edges with water and crimp edges with a fork. Fry in hot oil
until golden brown. Makes 8 pies.

Filling:
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
onion to taste
2 tsp. flour
1 Tbsp. shortening
Brown beef and pork. Add ingredients, salt and pepper.
Cook thoroughly and let cool. (You may even chill in refriger-
ator.)
