PORK CHOP ONION RICE BAKE 6 pork chops 2 Tbsp. shortening 1 c. uncooked rice 1 envelope onion soup mix 3 c. hot water Brown pork chops. Spread rice in bottom of 13 x 9-inch pan. Reserve 1 tablespoon onion soup mix. Sprinkle remaining mix over rice. Pour hot water over rice. Arrange chops over mix. Sprinkle with reserved mix. Cover tightly with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove foil; continue cooking for 10 minutes or until excess liquid evaporates. Do not overcook, however.
