1 large head cabbage
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/4 c. rice
salt and pepper to taste
2 large onions
Stem head of cabbage in order to separate leaves.
Gently mix together beef, pork, rice, salt and pepper
(overmixing toughens the mixture). Roll meat mixture in tender
cabbage leaves and secure with toothpicks. Place coarse outer
leaves on bottom of a roaster. Layer cabbage rolls on top of
leaves. Slice onions over the cabbage rolls and cover with
canned tomatoes. Cover pan and let simmer for 3 hours. Serves
