CHEDDAR BRUNCH STRATA 10 slices firm-textured day old bread 1 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (5 c.) 6 eggs, slightly beaten 2 1/4 c. milk 1 to 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard (optional) 2 Tbsp. minced green onion 2 tsp. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt dash of cayenne pepper Remove bread crusts; cut bread into small cubes. Combine cheese, eggs, milk, mustard, onion, sugar, salt and pepper and mix well. In greased shallow 2 quart casserole make layers of bread cubes and cheese mixture ending with cheese mixture. Refrigerate 6 hours or overnight. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes.
