CHILI BEANS

3 c. pinto beans
9 c. water
1 lb. ground beef
2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
3 Tbsp. margarine
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

Wash and soak beans in 9 cups water for 3 hours; drain.
Simmer beans in 7 cups water for 1 1/2 hours. Brown ground
beef in bacon drippings. Add seasonings to meat, then stir
into beans and simmer for 1 hour. Serve with green salad and
French bread.
