TRASH CAN DINNER (A Meal For Groups, Large Or Small) 2 carrots per person 1 red potato per person 1 ear of corn per person 1 head of cabbage per each 6 people 1 onion per each 6 people 6 kielbasa sausages or ham hock per each 6 people In a 30 gallon galvanized trash can (clean or new), you place 12 water-filled 12 ounce soda cans in the bottom, and cover with a metal mesh screen. Layer the vegetables and meat on top of the screen. Put the lid on tightly and set trash can over hot charcoal. You can use soda cans to prop up the trash can. Let steam over the hot coals for about 1 to 2 hours. This meal will feed as many persons as required, up to about 120. The more in the can, the longer it takes to cook, but it is almost impossible to overcook it.
