FIVE HOUR STEW|
2 lb. round steak
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce or
1 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 large red potatoes
1 c. celery
1 medium onion
1/2 medium green pepper
1 slice white bread with crust
Cut meat in 1-inch pieces or use stew meat. Cut pota-
toes and carrots in 1-inch pieces. Chop onion coarsely. Chop
celery coarsely. Combine all ingredients in Dutch oven. Lay
slice of bread on top. Bake tightly covered in a preheated
250 degrees oven for 5 hours. Stir once or twice during cooking.
