SHALLOW-FRIED TOFU

1 pkg. firm tofu
2 to 3 tsp. wheat flour
1 egg, lightly beaten
dash of salt and white pepper
1 to 1 1/2 c. breadcrumbs
1 c. vegetable corn oil, for
shallow frying
1/3 c. ketchup
1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire
sauce

Cut tofu into 8 to 12 slices, about 1/2-inches thick and
drain. Absorb surface moisture from tofu slices by means of
paper towels. Mix wheat flour, salt and pepper. Carefully
coat tofu slices with mixture. Dip tofu into egg and coat
slices with breadcrumbs. Heat oil in a medium skillet and
shallow-fry breaded tofu until golden brown. Mix
Worcestershire sauce and ketchup; serve mixture as a topping.
Garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.
Gravy can be used instead of ketchup mixture.
