1 lb. ground beef or chuck
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs (plain
or Italian style)
1 tsp. salt
1 c. tomato sauce, divided
1 1/2 c. cooked rice
1/2 c. grated cheese
cheese slices

Mix together beef, onion, crumbs, salt and 1/2 cup
tomato sauce. Pat into bottom and sides of a greased 10-inch
pie pan. Combine drained rice, rest of tomato sauce and
cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Top with cheese slices;
bake 5 more minutes. Freezes well before and after baking.
Mashed potatoes may be used in place of rice, omitting tomato
sauce in filling.
