1 c. chopped onion
1 green pepper
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 qt. or 1 can (1 lb. 12 oz.)
whole tomatoes
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
2 c. water
1 (8 oz.) pkg. uncooked wide
8 oz. Mozzarella cheese

In a large pan, saute onion and green pepper, cut in
strips, in butter or margarine for about 3 minutes. Add ground
beef and brown. Add salt, pepper and sugar. Stir in tomatoes,
tomato sauce and water. Heat mixture to boiling; reduce heat
and simmer 15 minutes. Into a 13 x 9-inch pan, layer tomato- 
meat mixture and noodles. Top with Mozzarella cheese. Try to
make sure noodles are well covered by sauce. Cover pan with
aluminum foil and bake in 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes. Cut and
serve as you would lasagna. Serves 8 to 10.
