SQUASH CASSEROLE

1 1/2 lb. yellow summer squash
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. minced fresh onion
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1/2 c. (or more) grated
Cheddar cheese
1/2 stick oleo, melted
cracker or bread crumbs
salt and pepper to taste

Cut squash (do not peel) in 1/2-inch slices. Cook in
small amount of water for 10 minutes or until tender. Drain.
Mix all ingredients except crumbs. Put mixture in greased
casserole. Top with crumbs (buttered if desired). Bake in
375 degrees oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
