RAISED DOUGHNUTS

1 c. shortening
1 c. boiling water
1 c. cold water
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
dash of nutmeg
8 c. flour
2 pkg. yeast

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. In mixing bowl
put in shortening, boiling water and cold water. Add beaten
eggs, sugar, salt and dash of nutmeg. Then add dissolved yeast
and gradually mix in sifted flour into a dough. Chill 2 to 4
hours. Roll out on floured board to 1/2-inch thick. Cut with
doughnut cutter and let rise 1 hour. Fry in deep shortening
until brown, drain on paper towel. Roll in granulated sugar or
powdered sugar. Makes about 4 dozen.
