OREGON CHESS PIE|
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. brandy flavoring
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
1 c. seedless raisins
1 (9-inch) unbaked pastry
Cream shortening and sugar together until very light and
fluffy; add flavorings and salt. Add eggs, one at a time,
beating well after each egg is added. Stir in nuts and rai-
sins. Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell; bake in a moderate
350 degrees oven about 40 minutes. Serve warm or cold; plain or with
whipped cream or ice cream.
