"STEAK HOUSE" ROLLS

1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 pkg. yeast
5 to 6 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. water
1 stick butter or oleo
1 egg

Heat butter in water until just warm. In a large mixing
bowl, mix sugar, salt, yeast and about 2 1/2 cups flour. Pour
in butter-water mixture and mix well for about 3 minutes. Add
egg and mix another 2 minutes. Add enough flour to make a soft
dough. Knead for at least 10 minutes on floured surface.
Place in buttered bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise
until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours. Butter 2 (11 x 13-inch)
pans. Butter hands and squeeze out walnut-size balls of dough
onto pans. Let rise in pans until doubled. Bake about 15
minutes or until golden brown in a 400 degrees oven. Butter tops of
rolls and enjoy.
