YEAST BREAD

1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
3/4 c. warm milk
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
2 pkg. dry yeast
5 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt

Place warm water and milk in bowl and add yeast. Set
aside. In another bowl, combine sugar, shortening and salt.
Cream until smooth. Add flour alternately with liquid mixture.
Add enough flour to make a smooth dough that is soft, but not
sticky. Knead and place in greased bowl and let rise until
doubled in size. Punch down and roll out. Cut into circles
and dip in melted butter. Fold over and place in buttered pan.
Let rise again until doubled. Bake at 400 degrees about 30 minutes or
until done. Will also make two loaves.
