CRANBERRY BREAD

2 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. grated orange peel
juice from 1 orange (and water
to measure 3/4 c.)
1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar
cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 c. cranberries, halved
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Combine shortening, flour, sugar, baking powder, soda,
salt and orange peel. Mix well. Blend in orange juice with
cheese and beaten egg. Fold in cranberries and walnuts. Bake
in greased and floured loaf pan at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Let
stand for 8 hours before slicing.
