2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 lb. margarine
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. water
1/2 c. coarsely chopped

Sift flour and baking powder. Cream together margarine
and sugar; beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in mashed ba-
nanas. Stir in soda, dissolved in water. Add sifted dry
ingredients all at a time. Beat only until smooth. Fold in
walnuts. Turn into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at
350 degrees for 1 hour or until cake tester comes clean. (No salt is
called for.) Yields 1 loaf.
