APRICOT BREAD

2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. orange juice
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. cherries, cut up
1 c. dried apricots
1 c. dates, cut up
1 c. nuts

Cover 1 cup dried apricots, cut up, with hot water for
15 minutes, drain. Spread on paper towel (to absorb moisture).
Beat eggs, add sugar, shortening and orange juice. Add flour,
soda, baking powder and salt. Mix well, then last add apri-
cots, cherries, dates and nuts. Make 4 loaves. Cook at 375 degrees
for one hour.
