PECAN PIE 1 c. pecans 1 c. dark Karo syrup 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 Tbsp. shortening Beat eggs, add sugar and syrup, then salt and vanilla. Add the melted shortening last. Place pecans in bottom of unbaked pie shell. Add the filling and bake slowly in 350 degrees oven for 50 to 60 minutes. The nuts will rise to the top of the pie filling and form a crusted layer.
