OLD FASHION CORN BREAD

1 c. cornmeal (yellow or
white)
1/2 c. flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. shortening or cooking
oil
1 egg
3/4 to 1 c. milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat cooking dish or pan with
shortening or cooking oil. Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar,
salt and baking powder in mixing bowl. Add egg and milk. You
may need to add enough milk so the batter will pour. Then add
shortening or cooking oil from heated pan to mixture. Cook
until golden brown.
