PECAN PIE

1/4 c. butter
2/3 c. brown sugar, firmly
packed
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. dark corn syrup
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 recipe plain pastry
1 c. pecan halves

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add salt,
corn syrup, eggs and vanilla. Line pie pan with pastry and
sprinkle with pecans. Bake in very hot oven at 450 degrees for 10
minutes; reduce temperature to moderate oven at 350 degrees and bake
35 minutes longer or until knife inserted in center comes out
clean. Makes 1 (8-inch) pie.
