MRS. WHALLEY'S SCONES

2 c. flour
1/2 c. white sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. raisins, halved
enough buttermilk to mix

Combine dry ingredients. Put in shortening, raisins and
buttermilk as needed. Roll out on lightly floured board 1/2
inch thick. Cut circles with cookie cutter (or tuna can).
Bake in 150 degrees to 175 degrees oven about 10 or 15 minutes. After 1/2 of
cooking, turn over to brown both sides.
