BASIC DOUGH RECIPE
(Two Loaves)
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 c. milk
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 c. sifted flour (about)
2 eggs

Soften yeast in water. Heat milk and shortening until
melted. Put sugar and salt in large bowl; add hot milk
mixture. Stir until dissolved and cool lukewarm. Add 2 cups
flour to milk and mix well 1 minute on electric mixer. Stir in
yeast and eggs; beat and add more flour. Beat until smooth
and elastic, 2 minutes. Cover and let rise about 1 hour. Stir
down. Put on floured board, knead lightly and shape dough into
desired form. Let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to
30 minutes until golden brown.
