Beat egg slightly. Add sugar, melted butter, flour, pie spice and salt. Add mixture to grated apples; mix well. Put into uncooked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Sugar and cinnamon may be sprinkled on top before baking, if desired.
